When I began, my primary aim was straightforward: replace my 9-5 income, which was around $5300 per month.
Amidst the plethora of inflated numbers in today’s discourse, $5300 might not seem like much to boast about. Yet, it’s this very income that transforms life’s quality.
It’s the difference between clocking in 40+ hours every week on a rigid schedule versus a few flexible hours daily.
It’s the contrast between having only weary evenings and fleeting weekends with family versus abundant free time.
It’s the distinction between needing permission and PTO for a day off versus full control over my time, and consequently, my life.
Most folks overlook how remarkably easy it is to substitute a 9-5 income with an online business. Allow me to illustrate precisely how using actual (rounded) figures from my own venture.
HERE’S THE REAL-LIFE MATH DEMONSTRATING THE SIMPLICITY OF REPLACING A 9-5 INCOME:
Once again, I aimed to earn $5,300 monthly to replace my 9-5 income.
I crafted an online course priced at $27, with an optional supplementary course available for an extra $27. On average, each customer spent around $41.
I promoted my course through Pinterest ads. To drive 333 people daily from the ad to my course sales page, the ad spend amounted to $97.
Out of the 333 individuals viewing my sales page, 2% made a purchase (this is the sales page conversion rate).
NOW, LET’S BREAK DOWN THE FORMULA:
333 views x 2% conversion rate = 6.66 customers per day
6.66 customers x $41 average spend per customer = $273 in gross sales per day
$273 sales – $97 ad spend = $176 net profit per day
($176 per day x 365 days)/12 months
equals $5,355 per month.
I essentially replaced my 9-5 income by selling a $27 course (plus a $27 upsell) to 6 or 7 people a day. That’s all it took.
And here’s where online business becomes truly exciting: SCALING.
